Established in 1998, P Music Group has grown into an international artist management company. Representing musical artists, producers and writers P Music Group offers business management, tour production, marketing and branding, publicity, merchandising and promotion for all their artists. Founder and CEO, Michael Paran, got his start signing the legendary funk group the GAP Band. Paran worked as both the GAP Band's business and road manager including a tour with Snoop Dogg at Lollapalooza in 1997. After years of mismanagement, Paran was able to turn the GAP Band's career around. The GAP Band went on to perform hundreds of shows on tour and reclaim their spot as one of the best live performing bands of the 80's. In 1999, Paran became the Vice President of Major Hits Records. Paran oversaw all the tour and marketing aspects for the label. One endeavor was Paran's co-creation of a funk super group by the name of United We Funk. This group included the GAP Band, Rick James, Roger & Zapp, SOS Band, Dazz Band, Confunkshun, Barkays, and the Ohio Players. United We Funk toured nationally for two years and set the standard for many of the current multi-acts touring together today.
Paran always knew Charlie Wilson, lead singer of the GAP Band, had both a unique and incredible vocal and musical talent. In 2000, Paran got Charlie Wilson his own solo recording deal which produced the #1 single "Without You." In 1994, Paran negotiated Charlie Wilson a recording deal with the major label Jive Records. Wilson has since produced two albums for the label, the Certified Gold Charlie Last Name Wilson(2005) and the Grammy Nominated Uncle Charlie(2009). Together both albums produced five #1 Singles. Wilson's Uncle Charlie album was nominated for two Grammys and debuted #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Chart and #2 on the Billboard Hot 200. The album debut was a career high for Wilson, charting higher than any of his previous projects, including the music he recorded with the GAP Band. Wilson is currently working on his highly anticipated third album set for release end of 2010. Paran has also helped Charlie Wilson achieve a 2010 NAACP Image Award Nomination for Outstanding Male Artist, a 2009 Soul Train Icon Award, and in addition, Billboard magazine named Charlie Wilson the #1 Urban Adult Contemporary Artist of 2009 and "There Goes My Baby" the #1 Urban Adult Contemporary Single of 2009. During Paran's tenure as a manager he has been able to work with an ensemble of musical artists and legends from both the old school and new school such as: R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Notorious B.I.G., T-Pain, Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Fantasia, Chrisette Michele, Keri Hilson, Lil Kim, Keith Sweat, Frankie J, Mint Condition, Teddy Riley, Blackstreet, Tina Marie, New Edition, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, En Vogue, Toni Toni Toni, Morris Day, and Kool And The Gang to name a few.
